Healthy = the least amount of calories … at least that’s what most people think. But they’re wrong.
In reality, it’s a little more complicated than that.
According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, nutrient-density is one of the most accurate predictors of healthy diets. Nutrient-density is a calculation based way of looking at food that takes into account the nutrient levels — such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, etc. — in relation to the amount of calories in that food. The higher the score, the more nutrient dense the food.
